On October 31, 2026, the sacred Kathina Cheevara Pooja was held at the Kananke Thepudeniya Halgashena Forest Monastery, under the leadership and participation of the monastery's chief monk, Venerable Assaji Thero, together with the Maha Sangha.

The ceremony was organized through the dedicated participation of members of the “Sil Suwandai – Hela Diviyai” programme, the RISHI AHARA organization, and lay devotees.

This meritorious occasion brought together Buddhist spiritual practice, generosity, community participation, and the preservation of Sri Lanka's traditional food heritage.
